The vast majority of these shootings are by young black gang members aiming at other young black gang members. Unfortunately, they're such bad shots that they often kill innocent people.  It has little to do with gun laws, as criminals will ignore those and find a way to obtain weapons. It has everything to do with culture, education, family, and other factors.

Not just the innocent bystanders from bad shots, but also very common is the fact you have armed 13-16 year olds running around trying to make a rep. They often shoot better than people realize...the lroblem.is, the people they shoot werent involved, but the dumbass kid trying to make a name for himself didnt bother to ask.

There was a time when "i dont bang, homie" was generally a pass...nowadays not so much.

complex problem...has a lot to do with family, economic opportunity, education, culture, and other factors.

Additionally, many of these young gang members lack fathers to guide them. The father is either missing, dead, or in prison. That's the sad reality.

I don't have a solution to all this.

So the reality is that either it's going to continue to be left to fester or it's going to take a lot of money and time to fix something like this as it is clearly multilayered.

That's right.

I wonder what the churches and communities are doing to help lessen this violence. It's easy for these people to give up hope. It's like living in a war zone, and traumatic stress paralyzes you at some point. Something has to get through to these young gangsters that they're destroying their families and community, and themselves.

Status quo. Nothing changes because both sides are so dug in to their agenda.

nothing will change until both sides are willing to sit down and work out some common sense approaches to it.

If future consequences was a meaningful deterrent people wouldn't:

1. commit crimes
2. consume drugs or alcohol
3. eat at fast food
4. watch the Angels.

Well, it's important to note that 4 can lead to 2 (which can then lead to 1), so we're probably all just best off doing 3 and heading to the gym.

I told you last year. Bring in the National guard and cordon off hot zones, go door to door and confiscate all weapons. Search all cars, all buildings and every person. Keep the pressure on until fall when it cools down and people aren't 24/7 crazy.

You should be on board with that, right?
