IGNORED

RIP David Bowie

Recommended Posts

I worked with him for about a week 25 years ago. What an honor it was. The man had no ego. True genius. So friendly and approachable. RIP

Genius gets thrown around a lot, but it truly applies to Bowie.

I remember first listening to the Space Oddity album around '71-72 and being amazed.

He really kept the music flowing.

RIP David

My timeline is filled with Bowie.  He was genius

I honestly had no idea Bowie passed away until just now. I was going to say that I don't throw the term genius around lightly ( Billy Beane excepted, of course). Bowie, however, earns that title. While I can do without his Pop phase (China Girl, Let's Dance, etc) his earlier music is incredible. Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Golden Years, Young Americans...

genius

David Bowie (& The Spiders from Mars) is/are just behind The Beatles and Led Zeppelin for me. I am truly saddened that I will never get to see him play live (as well as many other musicians) because I was born in the late 80s and didn't really get into classic rock until the end of high school, when most of these people were rarely, if ever, touring. I didn't actually start listening to Bowie until the end of college and when I did, it hit me as strongly as when I started listening to The Beatles and helped me a lot at the time and in the years that have followed. To me, that is a huge part of the beauty and overall power of music, which is something David Bowie did better than most musicians could only dream of. RIP, David Bowie, truly a rebel rebel.

David Bowie's music and attitude got me through very hard times growing up. My mom's records--David Bowie, Man Who Sold the World, Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs--became my records and they brought a lot of light where there was a lot of death and sadness. I never knew the man personally, but in a way, I did. David Bowie, in my opinion, proved it was okay to be off. The world lost its greatest star.
