the only mention of drugs was, cocaine, by some random twitter nobody. obviously, organ failure at 29 is suspicious, but it'll all come out soon enough either way.

And while I can't find it now, there was a Reddit discussion yesterday in /r/baseball about Tommy's drug use in the Atlanta area, written by people who claimed to party with him. It sounded believable IMHO.

Really sad.  I remember being pretty excited when the Angels signed him.  Obviously he had some mental troubles after his brother died.  Hate when stuff like this happens.  Just awful.

I'm pretty sure we all know why he died, and it has zero affect on how sad it makes his family. Most of this thread is about sending condolences to his family.

What matters is that a wife lost her husband and his parents lost their second child in three years.

A young man randomly gunned down during a robbery attempt?  Or stomach cancer at 29?  That's tragic.

 

This idiot shoving crap up his nose?  Its stupid.  But everybody goes, "Welp, whaddayagonna do?". 

 

Perhaps if this idiot is stigmatized even just a little bit, it, perhaps would make another young father and husband think twice about doing such an idiotic, selfish act.

Depression is a serious illness, and drugs/alcohol are often used in a attempt to self-medicate.

 

Hanson talked freely about his "mental issues" after the death of his stepbrother. It's a sad story all around. Condolences to his family and friends. The discussions on the web about his alleged drug habits are highly inappropriate at this time, even if he is a public figure. The family deserves some privacy.
