As far as free agent outfielders go, I see two categories of possible players:

 

Stars: Heyward, Cespedes, Upton

Average to good players: Span, Parra, Rasmus

 

I say if they can't go with Heyward, one of the second group would be better because of less money and fewer years.

You have that reversed.  He was drafted by the Cardinals and traded to Toronto.   His father even posted on message boards complaining about how LaRussa and the Cardinals were messing up his baby boy.
