Heyman 1st half awards: Trout MVP

Recommended Posts

Heyman is such a soggy bag of dicks. He also has a typo in there, saying Trout has 36 HRs to date this season.

He also tweeted this last night:

Jon Heyman â€@JonHeymanCBS  17h

Heard on the stairwell exiting great American ballark from an 8-yr-old: "another good thing ... albert pujols didn't win!"

Why would a supposed professional sportswriter bother tweeting that? What was his point? Dude has gone out of his way to take shots at the Angels for years now and it's really gotten old.

Obviously that little SOB was racist.

I think it is more of a comment on how much the Reds fans hate Pujols and the Cards.  It has nothing to do with him being an Angel.

This is kind of a no-brainer. Does someone else deserve the award? If the season ended today, Trout would win the award unanimously. Again.

He would not win it unanimously.  People are going to start looking for anyone else that they could possibly vote for outside of Trout.  Not because they do not like him but because what he is doing is now just another Mike Trout being the best player season.  Trout is a machine.

Trout is a machine, but he's not the MVP of the American League right now. Yeah, he leads the league in runs and is up there in OBP, SLG%, and OPS. Even though he's hurt, Miggy leads Trout in most categories minus home runs (shouldn't be the lead reason for MVP) and RBI's. It's also hard to ignore what Prince Fielder has done as well, though he gets points marked off for not playing defense. Also, a dark horse candidate to me, at least for the MVP at the end of the season, is Manny Machado. He's an absolute assassin with the glove, even more so than Josh Donaldson, and is only 1 point behind Trout for the AL WAR lead. Trout is great, but don't just pencil him in because he's Trout and he's awesome. He's not really running away with it.

You are not for real, right? Are you suggesting Cabrera is the MVP? If not Cabrera, then who?

Trout and Cabrera have an identical wRC+ of 184.

The difference is that Trout has stayed on the field, and has better baserunning and defensive stats while playing a premium position.

That is kind of why he has an advantage in WAR of 5.5 versus 3.4
