Heyman 1st half awards: Trout MVP

Recommended Posts

Because he is a DH and they never win.

The voters would prefer someone who is god awful in the field and actually hurts his team with the glove

Hence, they don't give a poo about defensive ability

you mean, they don't give a poo about defense when comparing it

against someone that doesn't play defense at all.

So..... a DH can't win because they never win it... presumably because they don't play any defense....   But a player who hurts his team defensively (like Cabrera), can....

Should just give the award to Rafael Palmiero and call it a day IMO.

so if the stuck Vmart at 3b base last year and he was horrific there, he would have won the mvp?

btw, Standings count to the voters.  sometimes.

If Cabrera comes back from injury to lead the Tigers to a division title, it's gonna be close if the Halos win the division.

to me, it's usually like this:

the most dominant player on the most winning team.

if a player is so much more dominant than others, they still have a shot.

but if it's even remotely close and one team makes the playoffs while the other doesn't, then it's 100% clear about 70% of the time and predictable the other 50%.

MVP voting is a joke.  The criteria changes every year and a huge chunk of it has to do with momentum .

I think people forget what the difference maker is. Miggy did this for a team that made the post season.
