That was so damn stupid

I'm sure that information can be found, but I don't know where, and it's too late tonight for me to try and search for it.

Here you go:

http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/MLB/2015-baserunning-batting.shtml

So not counting tonight's game, the Angels have 20 outs. There are 4 other teams with more outs. But it doesn't have a percentage. For example Detroit has more outs but have had more base runners.

Beat me to it.

Ah okay you were combining caught steals with OOB

If I was a betting man, I'd say the Angels have run into the most outs in baseball. That falls completely on scioscia.

so all those times Aybar and Pujols decide to take the extra base, or the idiot 3rd base coach sends the runner, it's  Scioscia's fault?

ok, got it

Okay so I found what I was looking for.

The Angels have run into the 4th most outs in the MLB.

And they rank 21st in SB%. If it weren't for Trout, their SB% would be dead last at like  20%

ok, now subtract the best basestealer on every other team and give us the rankings

I believe the manager is responsible for instilling a smart and disciplined base running team.

The last out in the game was Colin Cowgill getting caught stealing...when the tying run for the game was at the plate and the Mariners' pitcher was struggling. Jury's out on whether Cowgill took off on his own (doubtful), whether he had the green light (why) or whether Scioscia just threw him under the bus (my vote).

Winning run was at the plate, tying run was Cowgill.

If the Angels really want to be aggressive on the base paths, like you, I'm fine with it...But don't wait until the freakin' 9th with 2 outs and the winning run at the plate.

Quite possibly the worst time to start running aggressively.

I would like to know the last time a guy made the last out of the game trying to steal 2nd base. Complete ass-hatted decision.

This made me laugh, how very true. And we were just talking about how there aren't many good catchers in the game, but I can tell you one thing, it certainly seems a majority of them perform better than Iannetta both defensively and offensively.

Taking a step back, maybe they were trying to catch them off guard? But IMO as a former catcher, I'd be watching that runner relentlessly after they put on a pinch runner, EVEN MORE SO during the first pitch of the freaking at bat. The commentators even said this after the game, Rodney actually has a pretty quick move home, so it's not like a stolen base was a given by any means.

I might trust Aybar there, but definitely not a cold pinch runner.

Conjecture exists, but supposedly Babe Ruth was caught stealing to end the 1926 WS with the Cards winning it.
