ISIS delenda est

The middle east has been a shit-hole for thousands of years, so I can hardly blame Bush or Obama for what is going on over there. They do it mostly to themselves.

No one is blaming them for the shithole that has been the middle east for thousands of years. We're blaming them for piling on even more shit and making bad situations worse.

That is an interesting interpretation of my opinion. It isn't about revenge, it is about protecting the interest of the country. I also believe that it should be approved by Congress before any action is taken.

"Protecting the interest of the country" is extraordinarily subjective. I don't think it protects our interests at all. Some would argue making cake makers serve everyone protects our interests.

except one doesn't infringe on the rights of of United States citizens or poison property rights.

Also, if someone has a better idea of how to deter them from their bad behavior I'm all ears.

It infringes upon the rights of citizens of another nation. What gives us the right? Or the gall? It's not the United States' job to deter others in the world from behaving badly. Since the Constitution doesn't say we can then I don't believe the federal government has the right.

Of course the constitution gives us the right.  It is called a declaration of war.  If you would sit by and let innocent people be kidnapped, raped and murdered more power to you.  You seem to care more about the rights of ISIS than you do their multitude of victims.

and again, what say you when those behaviors directly impact U.S. citizens?

You're completely missing the point. It's not that I don't care for the victims. It's that the US government shouldn't be declaring war and using taxpayers money to save other people in their own land. We don't have the duty to protect the world. Read the Constitution again. I assure you that job isn't outlined.

US citizens shouldn't go overseas without knowing that unless they are part of a military-led mission and involved in an engagement then the US government won't be coming to their defense. They are entering a foreign land with foreign laws under foreign rule. The people there dictate what happens, not the US. And if the US citizens still go there and something happens then we should do nothing. They left America under free will knowing the danger. It's not our job to make the world safer. It's our job to make America safer.

One place I hope we eventually patch our relationship with is Iran. It looks like an absolutely incredible place to visit.

it was often portrayed as some kind of paradise. as long as the mullahs are in charge, however, i don't see that relationship ever being healed.

I'm not missing your point at all.  It is easy to say you care but that care without action means absolutely nothing.  It is no more than pathetic lip service.

I certainly don't believe that America should be the world police but I think that measured, planned out responses to certain horrific acts is necessary to keep the planet safe.  Not only that, this is a global economy with U.S. citizens living all over the world.

A lack of any response would deeply cut into the willingness of people to go and provide human relief and again I believe that is where the real change may occur.

The Constitution at least provides for the ability to declare war while it certainly does not provide the ability to make citizens behave a certain way in their own homes and businesses.

I just ask that you guys, and I will miss some of you, go surrender whatever assets you may have left and march your asses straight to the Socialist camp until this blows over.  I hate to see you all have to continue to live this way.  We will come rescue you once this is all over if there is a country left.

Dude you're the king of incoherent rambling.

Actually there used to be a poster here who could do him one better. I can't remember his screen name for the life of me (I think it was a little before your time anyways). There was a thread about Viagra and he talked about wanting to try it at a grocery store but not one remotely close to his house because he didn't want people he knew to see his boner. Shame I didn't think to archive it to give it the justice it deserves.
