There was a 'come to Jesus' moment very early in all three's stints here.

GMJ's vials of dope

Vernon Wells' batting average his first month, April 2011

Hamilton showing up to his first spring training looking like an AIDS patient on a diet.

I like LTH's quasi-troll nature now.

He spent a decade plus defending everything Angel.

Welcome to the dark side.

I got, as they say, a life. ;-)

I'll still defend when I feel it's appropriate, but good lord do I dislike the Josh Hamilton signing now. It's the worst acquisition of that bunch. And at least the other guys seemed to try/care. They still sucked, but did so with good intentions. I don't know what Hamilton is doing.

While I am fan of Hamilton in general, he's been way better than those two other guys.  He's been an above average hitter actually.

I think we are forgetting how tremendously awful GMJ and Wells were for this team.  They actually provided negative value.

Hackilton does have the best OPS+ of the three as a Halos player, but also cost significantly more than the other two players.

At least we got rid of some $20 million out of the $86 million originally owed to Mr. Pop-Up, when the Skanks took him off of our hands.

I don't know why, but I never had the vitriol for Gary Matthews Jr. that others on here did. I guess it's because I feel like he performed more or less up to the level of player he was. It was the Angels' dumb fault for giving him that contract. His numbers as an Angel weren't that out of whack with his career numbers before he got here. Wells and Hamilton on the other hand, both basically sh*t the bed as soon as they signed with the Angels.

Cashing paychecks?

Last evening on MLB, the guys were speaking about Hamilton's latest injury.  One of them commented that he has been a disappointment for the Angels thus far, but still is owed $83 million for three more years, and still believes the best is yet to come.   He said it with a straight face.

Yep....   I'm sort of in the same boat, GMJ did what a lot of guys have done, worked a fluke season into a retirement contract.

To be fair ...  when you've been as awful as he has been with the pedigree he has it's easy to expect there to be more.  Personally, I look at his career numbers in Angel Stadium and I just don't expect much.

On the flip side, can you imagine having this outfield currently?

LF Garrett Anderson & Tim Salmon in a platoon. CF Mike Trout. RF Vladimir Guerrero

Outside of Vladdy, stoneman really sucked ass at free agency

The Colon and Escobar signings were okay.

Colon did have 1.5 rock solid seasons here (mid 2004-all of 2005), and Escobar was a solid contributor for only $6 million/season.
