After watching his act on TV, what rational person would have him do their heart surgery?

One of my doctors thinks that Dr. Oz (and others like him) account for hundreds of millions of unnecessary medical expenses every year.  This not counting the money spent on supplements. 

 

He said whenever Oz advertises some stupid "natural cure" his office gets about two dozen phone calls from well-meaning moms who want to discontinue medication, either for themselves, their husband, or their kids.  Then about a month later, once they realize the natural remedies don't work, they end up in the ER or call his office demanding an appointment right away.

There are people who believe that everything they hear on television must be true, or it wouldn't be broadcast. There are still snake oil salesmen today. They have just learned how to sound credible and their methods are more sophisticated.

The fact snake oil salesmen still exist in modern times is a testament to the dumbing down of America.

 

We have the technology in our pockets to debunk their claims, but nobody bothers to check.
