Speaking of, Angels front office if youre reading this, if you want a sold out stadium when baseball returns, why not a TP giveaway? Ill take that over a bobblehead right now.

Dow tumbles nearly 3,000 points -- worst point drop in history

From CNN Business' Anneken Tappe

It was another ugly day for US stocks. The Dow recorded its worst one-day point drop in history and its worst performance on a percentage basis since October 19, 1987, also known as “Black Monday”.

Stocks fell to session-lows in the final hour of trading, President Donald Trump said the outbreak could last until July or August. The Dow dropped more than 3,000 points at its worst.

  • The S&P 500 finished down nearly 12%.
  • The Dow closed 2,997 points, or 12.9%, lower.
  • The Nasdaq Composite ended down 12.3%.

I am a cpa who works in the investment industry.  I hear from all the "smart" people, and "experts".  With little exception*, NOBODY was calling this.  Goldman, any of those people.  Never saw it coming.  Never said to get out after the first drop.  "Hold steady, blah blah blah".

Same exact thing happened in 2008-9.

*Paul Singer, who runs the activist investment fund Elliot Management, has been a bear for years.  Howard Marks, who runs Oaktree Capital, has sung the same tune.

Trade on the NYSE has been suspended. Dropped below 20,000.

For those of you who know better about such things, why was the market still open when businesses worldwide have been closing their doors or altering their services?

.... soooo I missed the bubble? Or its an even better time now?

I dont know how any of this works. I assumed the airlines would get bailed out, and that would be a good investment. Am i stupid, or is that whats happening?

With all due respect, if you aren't sure whether the stock market is 25% up, or 25% down since that original post, it may not be a good time for you to invest.

Or at a minimum, be taking stock advice from baseball messageboarders.

Do you have a brokerage account?

No.

Guy at work is real into this stuff, tried to get me to set one up a few weeks ago. I figured "ill get to it, let me do my taxes first, then Ill ask more questions"

He made it sound super simple, but he didnt factor in how lazy I am. (Like asking for stock tips on here)
