Hamas exists primarily because the Mossad wanted religious zealots to undermine secular Palestinian resistance movements.  A cool trick they cooked up with their CIA pals no doubt.  Who for decades utilized Islamic radical groups to undermine Secular Arabs across the region.   Of which, there were many.  Israel wanted Hamas and they fucking got it.

And relatively, Hamas isn’t even that extreme.  They’re akin to the Muslim brotherhood.  Certainly religious conservatives but not like the wahabi’s in Saudi Arabia.  Primarily a resistance organization.  You can cry about their methods all you want.  But Hamas couldn’t be as demonic as the IDF if they tried.  Even at their most diabolical.  The Palestinians are fully right to resist.  Maybe we should sell them the same weapons we give the Israelis.  Then you guys can stop crying about the rockets.

The origins of it are more about the European colonial powers.  Particularly Britain.  The people who developed the Zionist concept themselves described it as a bulwark for European states.  We’ve talked about the Christian element.  That was very much true then as well.  Anyway,   the correspondence of Theodore Herzl and other zionists is pretty telling about the project.  They don’t really hide their intentions.  It’s funny also how at first, they didn’t even really care where it was. Africa was on the table, South America.  There were several possibilities.  Anyway, you can take a look at the Balfour declaration.  The British decided they were going to make a Jewish homeland in Palestine.  On account of not being consulted on this it was news to the people who lived there as you may imagine.  They even got around really not liking that idea.  Also, understandable.  The colonial powers carved it up as they liked, giving great preference to European Jews and mostly offering complete disregard for the Arabs that lived on the land.  You have to understand that despite living on the land for centuries the Palestinians had lived under a feudal ottoman system.  They didn’t have deeds in the way that we would recognize.  And even if they did have some kind of title, generally it would not be accepted.  Nevertheless they lived on the land. 
 

anyway, today yes Israel gets to enjoy its absolute impunity because of the US.  They very much appreciate all our tax dollars.
