The Angels need all the prospects they can get and aren't short on money. If Papelbon can slip into the 8th inning and shut things down then I say do it.

this where im at.

Not saying it should be papelbon. But like the dogs offloading bostons anchor, I say we at least kick the tires on lee or hamels just based on us agreeing to take the salary (as bad as it is). Hemels would be tougher, and price will cost too much in terms of prospects (who we dont have). But eating a chunk of money (which we do) in order to keep the prospects going over low is a good thing, IMO

Would love to see cinc fall further back and maybe see what cueto would cost (hes a FA after the season)

I don't mind Pap in theory.  As others have pointed out, he will cost more in $ then prospects.  I haven't looked at the advanced metrics, but I don't really see much of a decline.  If anything, he has been consistently very good and durable.  That said, he'll cost $13M next season and has a fairly obtainable vesting option for 2016 (if he finishes 55 games next season) at another $13M.  That's some serious coin for a RP.  If Phi is willing to take a nobody prospect and eat a chunk of the salary, I think this is a better option then Street.

if you think papelbon would be open to being a setup man, then you don't know papelbon.
