Well, sometimes you have to bring in Smith in the 8th to shut down the opposition and let Frieri take the 9th with the bottom of the order coming up. AO got us out of trouble when we needed it and now the Angels are on their own to shut down the Phillies for the rest of the series.

The self bans are only as valuable as the person behind them. AO is a legend and his bans are legit.

My favorite part of the ao ban is that when the ban has been lifted he usually comes straight to the board and posts in every thread on the page in about the span of five minutes.

The Angels currently have the longest active streak of consecutive games without being shut out by the opposing team at 103 games (since July 21st 2013)

 

I will accept a one week self-ban effective from the next time the Angels are shut out. Two weeks if we are shut out tomorrow.
