Hmm, could be that Gubi, or it could be that Weaver doesn't have the stuff to get away with falling behind in counts and missing his spots as much as he used to.

That's actually normal for him. LAst year he was throwing 85 mph or so

I'd say it's at least a pretty large concern if you're ace is no longer an ace.  Can't go very far in the playoffs without one.

Weaver's stuff is garbage nowadays. I can't believe his stuff declined this quickly and to this extent - especially since he was never even a flamethrower to begin with and he's still relatively young.

 

His delivery causes a ton of stress on his shoulder, so it's not too surprising that the velocity is dropping as he continues to age

yeah.  Weave has to command three pitches and he didn't throw one breaking ball where he wanted.  If teams can sit fastball, he's gonna have problems.  I think he'll have starts like this on occasion this year.  It usually lasts an inning or two and if he can get thru those with minimal damage he'll be fine.  He always has a couple of starts per year where he explodes

Just wasn't a good enough one there.

he tried to bunt away from the shift but didn't do it hard enough.  If he did it right its an easy hit.
