If it's for a minor league deal or little guaranteed...what the hell. If he sucks it up in spring training you cut'em and nothing lost. But this can't be a Madsen type of move where you are planning on him making a huge difference...you need to go out there and get another mid rotation starter who you can count on. This is buying a lottery ticket and hoping you get some depth and someone who might be able to fill out the rotation if Skaggs isn't ready.

Yeah, if he's basically filling the hole in Salt Lake's rotation that Chris Volstad leaving for Korea left, whatever.

 

He is 5 years removed from pitching at all and 8 removed from being good though, so his odds of actually being useful in any way seem awfully low.
