Cheap Risk/High Reward

What are some buy low candidates on the FA market that you can see as being a cheap low risk/high reward type player?

Kurt Suzuki

Johan Santana

Mark Ellis

Obviously Santana's arm not falling off is key, but when he's healthy (yes I understand he hasn't been for a while) he's a pretty darn good pitcher. I'm sure he's going to look to get a chance to start somewhere, but if we were able to bring him in on a low cost deal as a depth piece... He'd be better than Blanton, that's for sure.

Just doesn't have the stuff or velocity he had in his prime....as to cheap risk/high reward, DiPoto tried that with Madsen....hope he has a better antenna this time....

I'd add Colby Lewis to the mix.  He had TJ, then had spurs in his hip last year.  If healthy, he could be a steal.

I watch alot of blue jays games because they show them all on TV here. I want no part of Josh Johnson. Plus, I don't have faith in butcher to try and get Johnson back to his old self.

I wanted to see Butcher replaced as well, but that staff he has been given the last two years have been awful.

How about Eric Chavez?  No, he wouldn't be full time.  But he could cover 3rd for 1/3 of the season, and it looks like his bat is back.  So it would be a solid bat off the bench.  And he could probably be signed for a million or two.

As for the OP suggested three both Suzuki and Santana are on club options for 2014 but I am pretty sure both Oakland and the Mets will pay the buyouts. Mark Ellis is just another bench guy at this point and not a pickup that would move the club forward.

Adam would be happy with picking up Suzuki so the Angels can have his dream all Asian catching corps.

AO would be ecstatic to have another Santana to bitch about.

I'm all for cheap low risk/high reward guys. But I'm sure the board will lose their shit when they don't produce like they did for Hanson, Burnett and Madsen.
