WTF is with this bleeping weather?

Recommended Posts

TWO months into winter in SoCal, or what is allegedly winter, and only POINT TWO inches of rain so far.

POINT FREAKING TWO!    Plus significantly warmer than normal temps for most of it

Only 1.2 inches of rain since July 1, 2013

Only 3.2 inches of rain since January 1,2013

At this rate, there will be no more SoCal water.

This drought laughs at the 1976-77 drought.    What a puny one that one was, compared to THIS.

Okay 4 miles high and 2000 miles wide massive high pressure system in place for going on 2 years, time to MOVE ON.    Never mind the drought, it's also causing this crazy winter weather in the rest of the country, through EVERY storm being deflected north of here.

We got four inches of snow this morning followed by an inch of rain.  Supposed to have a thunderstorm pass over before more freezing rain and then snow tonight.

We had two straight days in the mid 40's and now one in the mid 30's.  Feels like summer here.

I still fail to see the bad news

the bad news is that we need the water. the snowpack in the sierras is down, and that should be a huge concern for each of us. without enough water, we'll have huge problems in socal. imagine the state having to buy water from another state (probably far beyond what they already do) and how that cost will impact you. picture being on really tight water restrictions in your home.

we need the rain and snow, at the very least, in the sierras. filling up our reservoirs throughout the state is an urgent matter as well.

Don't forget the price of produce going up due to the effect the drought is having on our agriculture.

LOL, he probably thought he had arrived in Utopia.   That weather back there is beyond ridiculous.

There may be drought relief on the horizon (a week from now) though.

http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/irvine-ca/92612/daily-weather-forecast/337095?day=8

Upwards of 1.8 inches of rain predicted for a week from now.

Okay, that's a drop in the bucket compared to what's missing in the reservoirs.   But it's a start.

Often these "10 day" forecasts fizzle out, and we only get a sprinkle or two. I hope that's not the case here, of course. Looking forward to a good drenching next weekend.
