Canada records highest temperature ever amid heat wave

Canada has recorded the highest temperature in its history after a village in British Columbia reached 115 degrees Fahrenheit on Sunday.

Temperatures in Lytton, B.C., surpassed the previous national record of 113 F (45 C) set on July 5, 1937, in Saskatchewan, according to Environment Canada.

Only a Cat 1, but looks like it will hit NY City directly.  Also, I don't know if tides are different on the East Coast/West Coast.  But West Coast is expecting huge surges/high tide over the next few days.  If the tide is high during the Hurricane, could be flooding like Sandy? a few years back.

Just now, gotbeer said:

Meanwhile, the guy in blue casually walks into the wind.

*edit, dammit top paged, now it doesn't make any sense without adding the op.

Watch the video again. The guy gets nailed in the head. That's what makes it great.

The tragedy is going to be this.

New Orleans mayor says there's not enough time to order new mandatory evacuations ahead of Hurricane Ida

At least with Katrina, they ordered mandatory evactuations.  And that was 20 hours before it hit.  That they won't issue the mandatory because of traffic management shows how much they failed at learning from the past.

a former student of mine was in NOLA for Katrina and told the story once of how they survived. It was harrowing, and something not easy to forget or recover from. I hope people there are able to get to safety during Ida.
