Hey, @Homebrewer, on your recommendation I went to South Gate Brewery a few weeks ago. Beers and food were really good. There was a group of us waiting for a table, and they were nice enough to serve us all a round while we stood at the entrance. Thanks!

You're welcome...glad you tried it. Best, really the only place in Oakhurst, IMO. I've been going there since before they opened as I met the owners one night in Mariposa a few years ago as they were still putting the place together. They have done really well . I've collaborated on a few brew recipes with the brew master , as I do some custom malting and roasting.

Our company used to be located on the same building as Warner Animation, in fact he same floor and we had to walk through their department to get to our offices.

One day there was a Warner Animation artwork sale with in the main lobby. The typical animation stuff and then some more serious work. One piece was two small girls sitting in a field of wildflowers and I asked the artist where this was. He told me it was a trip to the high desert where the flowers were in bloom years ago when the rain season was intense.

It was a beautiful, almost surreal painting that you would think was some artist conception of a fantasy desert bloom but it was based on pictures he took of his girls playing in the flowers.

He wanted $3,500 for the painting and to this day I regret not buying it.

There have been monster snow blowers (see below) being trucked through town the past few days, so work is beginning on Tioga Pass. From what I understand there are places where they cant reach the bottom of the snowpack with their measuring equipment, so they aren't even sure how deep it is in places. More snow coming up high next week.
