It's a systemwide rule that applies to everybody.

It has been raining here off and on all day. The projected high was 65 degrees, and we probably fell 8-10 degrees short of that. The system that has been soaking SoCal is supposed to roll through here sometime between 10 and 11 PM. Originally there was only a slight chance of rain for Sunday, but the forecast has been revised for more rainfall.

Yesterdays rain got an official mark of 2.01 inches in LA.  Record was 2.18 set in 1884.  But it put us over the top for the month, 3.93 inches vs 3.80 inches average.

I think we got less rain than predicted here. We only saw about 1 hour's worth of the really torrential rain, could have been worse.

Collected 2.25 inches in my rain gauge yesterday.

So far it has been raining all day here. Started about 11:00 last night, has been heavy at times, but mostly just light and steady.

Right. The OC got totals that were mostly under 2 inches.

San Fernando Valley got it really hard, 4-5 inches in most spots.

In my neighborhood in Las Vegas, we have recorded more than an inch of rain in the past 24 hours - approximately 25 percent of our normal annual total (around 4.5 inches).

My brother thinks the government is hiding something from us regarding this freakin rain. He tends to be a little paranoid.

It does seem odd, however. Five straight years of drought and suddenly it's storm after massive storm.

I think that is pretty standard for SoCal.  I remember seeing some thing in the LA Times years ago that showed the average rain fall by year, and you could see a clear 5 - 7 year gap between the large numbers.

Here are the temperature facts for Tustin from November 20-February 20 (93 days).

Average high was 4.6 degrees BELOW normal, and there were only 16 days with at least a high of 70 degrees.  70 degrees is not much above the norm for that period.

In other climate news, Philadelphia may have two straight days this week with temps of 70 degrees. That hasn't happened in the month of February since 1954.
