I also didn't know he could sing.  His singing numbers were surprisingly good.  Although I thought they could have done away with James T Kirk at the beginning.  

 

He has an entire big band/lounge album that he came out with last year.

I was unimpressed with McFarlane. His shot on Affleck was pretty stupid. This was his night after being screwed over by the academy. Some jokes were funny, others got crickets. He should stick to what's working for him.

Maybe since picture is tied so closely to director, the Academy will expand the director to the same number as picture next year?  It really was a black eye for them, even if Affleck may or may not have won that category.

After the Daytona 500, (no passing, commercial ruined, snooze-fest) and spring training baseball... The Oscars were the most exciting thing I watched yesterday.  I hadn't seen one of the movies.

I had no idea who Seth MacFarlane was before last night, and thought he was GREAT.

Missed that one xboom.  I didn't watch much but I thought Seth did a good job.  Problem with the Oscars is they really limit what you can do as a comedian   I thought he got away with more than I expected.

I didn't hate Seth at all. I don't think I would miss him if he never hosted again, but wouldn't be against him hosting again either.

He was better than Letterman.

It wasn't really a joke about Affleck. It was a joke about the Kardashians. It was probably poor taste but I'm not sure why Affleck would care.

Watching Affleck give an acceptance speech is painful. He talks way too fast and mumbles his words. He seems nervous and overly agitated. It's like he's got too much information in his head that he can't seem to articulate into words.

In his defense they ran like 30 minutes over and they were cutting off people the whole night. His co-producer had just chatted away for like 2 hours. I'm sure he was worried about the time issue. Still, hard to see them cutting away on the Best Picture speech. You could tell there were some cases where certain people seemed to get a little more rope. Anne Hathaway and Quentin Tarantino were the two that come to mind. If it were some lesser known schmucks they would have had their microphones cut during their long-ass boring speeches. But they didn't even get the music.

Yeah, I'm sure he was worried about that. But, he did at the Golden Globes and at the SAG awards too. He's just not good at acceptance speeches. I guess it's a good problem to have though.
