His 2023 numbers, .293 BA, .970 OPS in 62 games.

Why did they release him?

Because he was clogging up the 40 man roster as a AAAA player.

The same reason they didn't sign Tyler Anderson after he literally had an All-Star season for them: They don't see him helping them win in the future.

Was our number 1 prospect cuz we were ranked like 30th for a farm system. Anywhere else he'd like like 20th

Jam Jones was a cool name.  He at least had that going for him.

and Fletcher didn't get released while Jones did.

Hence, why I think he had an opt-out.

Jones activated an opt-out. His agent must of heard there was interest by other clubs that could move him to their roster. Good for him but his history says he is not a MLB level player.

I have no idea what Jones will turn into.  What I do know is he was among a very few names we heard a bit about during an era when the farm was garbage.

So I am not all primed to chase what might have just been the best garbage the Angels used to have.

That explains how he was a top 100 prospect according to three different prospect sources between 2017 and 2019; BBA (89th), MLB.com (93) and three times for BB Prospectus (78, 64, 68).

He and Adell both kind of in career limbo. The jump from prospect to good major league isn't as linear or predictable as many think. 

The Dodgers can be ruthlessly pragmatic. They know what they are doing and rarely let sentiment or hype get in the way.
