Thoughts on Trevor Bauer?

Well it's shitty that the victim is being judged for being victimized.

And even if there was no extortion, it's legal, private behavior.  I wouldn't apologize either.

and that'll be his choice.  Some semblance of contrition and he probably gets to pitch again.

there's a bunch of stuff that's legal private behavior that isn't considered appropriate or reasonable by most of society.

i would absolutely claim him. if he sucks as a player or a teammate you just tell him to kick rocks down the road.

exactly, anyways Bauer has always been disliked by teammates all the back to HS at Hart but it never mattered to much until this incident occurred OFF the field. Clubhouse dynamics are always overrated just like intangibles and leadership were in the past. The dodgers definitely care about PR and image of their brand and having a guy like Bauer would damage that, but for us we are in an ownership transition so the new group won't take any heat. Perry is a dead man walking if he doesn't win this year.

Weird.

My only guess is if the Dodgers told him that they wanted him to return and pitch for the team, but they couldn’t do it because of the PR backlash.

If that was the case, he’s obviously gonna avoid the last part and just say that they wanted him to return.

What makes your non-choking sex life any more socially acceptable than his choking inclusive sex?  How is judging him and punishing him for it any different than doing the same with men who have sex with men?  Or interracial sex?  Both of those were seriously frowned upon (and illegal) up until very recently (and still not approved of by many in society) and yet if Bauer was gay or had a black wife there is obviously no way he’d be punished for it or expected to be apologetic about it.

Just because “society” finds something distasteful, that shouldn’t be the standard by which we judge someone doing a legal act.

And again, he was a victim of a crime.  The fact that he was punished at all is disgusting, frankly.

My guess is they told him to admit fault and apologize and he told them to stick it up their asses.  Good for him.

I also feel that the punishment was so inconsistent with the precedent set for others that were magically rehabilitated because they said sorry yet actually charged with a crime in many cases.

Ozuna choked his wife in front of police and then did a diversion program so they dropped the charges.  He was suspended for 20 games without pay.  He apologized to his team and the fans and then was brought back without even a peep.

Bauer had rough sex, was never charged, and appears to have been set up.  He acted indignant and got suspended without pay for 2 seasons.

This is a very good take on this topic @Docwaukee.

But cals said he didn't do anything wrong.

So other than having rough and kinky sex was there any law he broke? He’s had his due process and wasn’t convicted of anything
