I foresee them saying he’s just going to rest and get ready to come back 100% next year.  I’m starting to see the end for Trout. I was thinking about it last night and it bummed me out to think we may never see “prime Mike Trout” ever again. He would go through stretches where you just couldn’t pitch to the guy, he would crush everything. I’m sure we will see flashes of it, but I don’t think we will see extended periods of time he’s hitting like that ever again. Injuries and lots of playing time starting to catch up with him.

I say no. Just like last year in a lost season, take time to fully heal to be ready for the next season. Trout used to be the most awesome dude in the sport. Now he's simply frustrating

While I can see why it would make logical sense just to put Trout in storage for the rest of the year, I think we have to consider who he is as a human being. He wants to play, regardless of how the team is doing. And I think he also has something to prove - that he can both stay healthy and perform at his best level.

So I think he'll come back if he can, and if he's healthy, I think we'll see a nice little run. He'll be more relaxed because the pressure is off, with the Angels now fully out of the race.

No. He needs to be ready for WBC.

The guy is going to make $37 million US dollars this year, regardless if he 'tries' to play or is rested for the remainder of the season.  He was on a special/legendary course before... he got paid.
