Angels trade Noah Syndergaard to the Phillies for Mickey Moniak and Jadiel Sanchez

Well the Syndergaard signing was a bust. Pitched solidly but was nowhere near worth the $21M price tag, and the return they got for him at the deadline was a lot of nothing. Moniak is nothing more than minor league depth and Sanchez is a low level lotto ticket(MLB pipeline doesn't have him listed as one of the Phillies top 30 prospects, while Fangraphs has him #29 on the Phillies list)

Mickey Moniak has a .900+ OPS in AAA this season. He's not trash.  Former 1st overall pick in 2016.  for 6 weeks of syndergaard it's worth the gamble.

We can still try to re-sign him.  The question is if these two players we are getting equals the 2nd round pick we lost for Noah.

Yeah Moniak isn't great, but given the current situation don't know who else the Angels could've gotten for a mediocre 2022 Noah Syndergaard

We basically got two minor league FAs for him.

I agree plus if Phillies pick up all the money. He's a rental to a team who might not make playoffs.

We wouldn't have gotten back Ryu. 

It would've been Noah and a reliever like Peguero or Junk for Biggio, and that would've been way better than Mickey Moniak and a kid OF three or four years away.

For the record Moniak and a pitching prospect in their 6-15 prospect range, would've been fine.
