Valeri Nichushkin Re-Injures Ankle, Out Indefinitely

@arch stanton  I guess it's the curse of winning a 2022 championship.  Win, then everyone gets injured.  So far, Colorado and the Rams say yes.  You can only hope it happens with the Astros.

It’s been ugly but they’re hanging in there. Imagine winning your division and having the best record in the conference and your reward is a first round matchup with a now fully healthy Avalanche team. That’s what Vegas could be looking at

Quite possibly.
Was at the Knights game this afternoon, quite a few injured players out. The giveaway poster was Alec Martinez, and he wasn't dressed for the game. Shea Theodore and Jack Eichel are both out.

Weird split for the Knights so far this season.

Road: 14-3-2

Home: 11-9

Just the opposite of the year that they started.

Before they played the Ducks, the broadcasters said that in the division, Ducks 4-5-1 or something like that.  Knights 5-4-1.

So that's good news if the Knights have to face the Lanche.  Bad news if they have to face the Oilers, Kings, or Flames.

NHL playoffs is just a different beast, and it's just amazing to watch.

You can't project the outcome of a playoiff series based on regular season outcomes either. A loss to the Kings now is not a huge deal. A loss to them during the playoffs could be the difference between advancing and going home. Strange things sometimes happen when the stakes are raised.

I would think that would be even more the case after seeing the success Tampa Bay has had recently. They've played down in season success, to a level of doing enough to get into the playoffs. The Presidents award is somewhat of a fools prize to the team that didn't pace themselves and prep for the playoffs.

Long regular seasons are a hold over from the past, a way to generate income. Successful teams do best by using them as a preseason to the playoffs.

Professional leagues would benefit by shortening the regular season and using it to  rank teams for a playin system to the playoffs.

The President's Trophy is just another banner to raise. It is usually not accompanied by the more desirable one: Stanley Cup Champion. Since the 1985-'86 season, the President's Trophy winner has won the Stanley Cup seven times, last by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2012-'13.

This is a brutal sport in which a team in the finals is over 100 games played. The key is to make the playoffs and get healthy for the playoffs. If the Avalanche can accomplish that then they'll win it again. Boston looks very impressive now but what toll will this take on their very old lineup? They need Bergeron, Marchand, and Krejci healthy and fresh in May

Golden Knights goalie Robin Lehner files for Chapter 7 bankruptcy

Can't read it. The article opens up, followed immediately by an obscuring banner hawking subscription.

Knights have dropped seven of their last nine, injuries the issue once again.

The New York Islanders have acquired center Bo Horvat from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for forwards Anthony Beauvillier, Aatu Raty, and a lottery-protected 2023 first-round pick.

https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/b/beauvan01.html

Anthony Beauvillier 25 yo LW, averages high 30's a season.

https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/r/ratyaa01.html

Aatu Raty 20 yo, 2nd round pick center, big boy 6'2" 190 lb, looks like a depth player from his minor numbers.

Horvat is a UFA after this season.  But at 27, you have to think they are looking for a long term deal with him.
