Marcel the Shell with Shoes On

Another solid movie and original idea from A24.  Laemmle Claremont has it for one week only so I got to it today and it was worth it.  Good family movie that appeals to any age young and old.

Won’t have the box office of Everything Everywhere All at Once but it will hopefully get a cult following.

Is this Saturday within that one week? I’ll be in Claremont for my 20th reunion (yikes)

Been 23 years for me and I ain't going whenever they did have it or haven't. Most of my male classmates were douchebags toward me and I got along better with underclass students.  Same year as Robert Buckley, the actor on iZombie, who I never knew personally and had in any class periods but knew of.  Seems like a nice guy in interviews and social media.

Gonna try and see Nope and take advantage of my premiere card I got with tax refund money since Thrusday is free popcorn day and I'm seeing Bullet Train on opening day.  Critics be damned, I've been looking forward to this since the first trailer dropped.

That does look good in a very innocent way.  Too bad kids aren't going to flock to want to see this.

Finished S4 of Unforgotten. Easily one of my favorite crime drama of all time.  Such rich characters. Tremendous acting. Compelling stories.

When I posted that, I didn't realize I had only watched 3 seasons and not 4.  I read an article about S4 (complete with spoilers) and I was dumbfounded that I didn't see it all.  I was also mad that I now knew how it would end before seeing it all.

Never-the-less... I went back to watch S4, knowing how it would end.

Spoiler

Cassie's death; although just the death of a fictional character, made me incredibly sad.  I guess it made me sad because it was all so believable. The characters were all so real.  It was a reminder that life can be incredible unfair sometimes.  It makes you pause.  It makes you take stock.  It reminds you how messy life can be and that you never know what tomorrow will bring.  That's good television.  Actually, that's great television.

After seeing all four seasons, I can say without a doubt that "Unforgotten" is the best show I've seen to date and Nicola Walker's portrayal of Cassie Stuart was one of the best, most real performances I've ever seen.

Showtime:  UFO  A documentary I guess of UFO's.  I say I guess because the conspiracy theories make me look like a sane rational person.  It's a rabbit hole you don't want to go down.  It's a cut and paste of pretty much every other UFO show.  It's a pass.

Prey: Hulu

A British cop is accused of killing his wife and son, but he escapes police custody and goes on a campaign to prove his innocence while finding the real killer.

it’s only three episodes long but entertaining.

It's good.

This has been popping up on banner ads and what not, looks interesting.

I think the ads you’re seeing may be for the new Predator film on Hulu, which is actually supposed to be really good. Those are the “Prey” ads I’ve seen.

He's done a lot of Hallmark movies lately as I've noticed on his IMDB page.  Seen some reviews of those movies before thanks to Cinema Snob's Christmas related episodes on Youtube.

Bullet Train

Yeah, I can see why critics hate it but I don't regret watching it.  It's a mess at times and wasn't as much as I anticipated but still enjoyed it when it brought the action and cool R rated kills.  It's a B grade for me.  A certain cameo leads me to believe this may be in the Lost City universe.
