Zack Wheeler started tonight for the first time in about a month.  Guess he was on a pitch count, as he came out after 4 scoreless innings.  Syndergaard actually replaced him.

I'm very curious to see what the market is like for Syndergaard this off-season.

The wheels came completely off of Syndergaard (ERA wise) after they started using him in a traditional 5 man rotation.  But if you look at his peripherals (4.11 FIP during that span), he was pretty much the same exact pitcher he had been in Anaheim.  His K rate dropped, his hit rate went up (their defense is awful), but he's actually posted a lower FIP as a Philly overall.

Given how often perception can cloud people's view, he may end up being available for a lot less than 21 mil a year.

I would certainly hope so.  Anyone who pays him anywhere near $20M/year is going to regret it.

Faint old memory, regrettably no longer true.  I still root for him though, sort of unconditional baseball love.

I still like the memory of what he used to be too, and I don't mean that dismissively.  Father Time has done to him what it does to all of us, but he was a good Angel, and appears to still be a good human being.

I just think his playing days may be at an end.
