I mean, is he?  Ha.  He's just a random guy.  Maybe has more speed than Wong, but seems like the type of guy every org has about 3 or 4 of.  He's also apparently arbitration eligible (not that he'll get much).

I was wondering if the Angels would have interest in Wade when the Yankees DFA'd him.  Seems like a Rex Hudler type, can play a few positions around the diamond, and stole 17 bases last year.  

He'll compete with Mayfield for a utility spot.

Not an exciting move, but I think this is a nice depth move and helps provide another SS option.   He’s super versatile and has played all over the diamond.

Dig it, was hoping we'd make a move for him after they cut him loose. 

FWIW, I like the idea of having a combo of Rengifo, Wade, Velazquez, and Mayfield at the ready for SS while we work on pitching and catcher first. 

By having such a replaceable list of players too, it allows us more flexibility in being opportunistic as the FA SS market plays out. Had he rushed off and gotten Iglesias or Simmons, we'd have spent some money and put ourselves out of any possibility of someone like Story on a one-year deal, or a favorable deal for Seager, Correa, Baez, Semien, whatever, however it plays out.

Gotta spend on pitching (and catching) first.

i've never seen him play, but apparently he's played a fair amount of time at all the positions, exluding 1b/c/p. that's definitely useful, especially if he's good defensively.

Both he and Velazquez had solid numbers in their last full minor league season:

Velazquez (age 26, '21): .273/.362/.451/.813 with 29 steals in 32 attempts, 20 doubles, 3 triples, 7 HR, 37 BB to 87 K in 306 PA
Wade (age 24, '19): .296/.352/.777 with 13 SB in 18 attempts, 19 doubles, 4 triples, 4 HR, 23 BB, 76 K in 334 PA

Both solid defensively. I still think Rengifo has some trade value (maybe for a MLB mid-reliever who's into arb?) and these guys make dealing that potential a little more feasible too.
