It needs to be said that Jordyn Adams struggled in A+ ball.

He likely needs at least another 1.5 years in the minors.

1.5 years is on the light side, IMO.

He probably spends the next 2 full seasons in A+ and AA. If he can progress past AA, then he may need another full season or season and a half in AAA.

Which is fine. He's still only 22.

On November 16th (Japan time), Hiroshima Toyo Carp approved Seiya Suzuki's posting application. If he announces the exercise of his rights within 7 days from the day after the Japan Series ends, excluding weekend, he will be able to negotiate a contract from the next day after the NPB announces that he is an FA declared player.
As the Japan Series will start on November 20th, the deadline of his application is estimated to be December 5. The Collective Bargaining Agreement is due on December 1st, so it may be affected.

he's definitely the best option if they trade one of Adell or Marsh.  If they do trade one of those guys and don't get a legit player to replace them then they're looking at Upton out there a lot which makes for 3 and possibly 4 spots in the lineup that could be a problem.

Signing him, then trading one of Adell or Marsh would be one thing - though it dings us financially.

Trading one of them, then hoping we sign him would be hard to take - unless there's some spectacular return - I really don't want to see Upton do much more than shag bp fly balls in LF ...

To be fair the Angels are very confused about what positions their players will play.  So I think we can be forgiven for dreaming big.  Consider the examples of Taylor Ward, Matt Thaiss etc.

Position identity disorder is a real issue.

(Summarized from Japanese media)

In 2015, Hiroki Kuroda (*) returned to Hiroshima Carp, he spotted the talent of Seiya Suzuki, who was 20 years old at the time.   He advised, "Pay attention to notable MLB players. Be a player like Mike Trout."   Later Kuroda said, "I want him to be a 5-tool player like Trout. If he has a player who can serve as a model for baseball, he will have more power."

*, 1997-2007 Carp (NPB)
2008-2011 Dodgers
2012-2014 Yankees
2015-2016 Carp (NPB)

At the press conference on December 15, Ohtani commented about Seiya Suzuki, "I'm the same age as him.  But I haven't played so many against him (as I belonged to a different NPB league).   Now he takes the lead from the other players in NPB.  I'm looking forward to playing against him in MLB."
