Im not trying to defend maddon, but hes never (in 2 seasons) had any pitching. Ohtani ans iglesias this year (maybe cobb), and bundy (lol) last year.

This year he had the huge year from ohtani, and the all star year from walsh, but not trout. And without trout, rendon out and fletcher playing so badly, there was no way they were going to score much at all.

If the 2020 roster is healthy next year, I like it. But i cant blame maddon (or give credit) until i see them all together for the year

Agreed.  I felt since 2009 we only had a few teams who were truly competitive teams in terms of personal. 

First the hitting was poor with solid pitching.  Then the pitching sucked as the hitting got better.  And our bullpen has sucked for almost every year since 2009.

Unfortunately when a team doesn't win, the manager gets the blame.

We fell off in 2010 but we’re still competitive, then had a real influx of talent in 2012 that went nowhere except in 2014. These are the years that probably cost Scioscia his job. By 2016 this team was Trout and then 50 miles of garbage.

Dodgers pitching is shot right now. Its not like he has a ton of options. And its not like the offense is crushing.

Still crazy to me that a team w scherzer, bueller and urias is about to get knocked out, and had to go 5 games before this.

Rank and file dodger fans are behind the curve in understanding how much autonomy the manager has.  The Alston/Lasorda days are forever gone.  I doubt if Roberts has any say on starters/openers and likely has a matrix on relief situations.  Atlanta bats are so hot right now so hard to tell, but I do think that Friedman and co. have opened themselves up to some legitimate criticism.

Absolutely. Anyone who thinks Roberts is the final say on any of these moves it out of their minds. Like you said, its a matrix making the decisions.

I was told years ago, circa 2015 or so, that Houstons front office was calling every pitch during games. Im not sure if the dodgers are at that point, but Im sure that theres a team that picks lineups, matchups, etc etc etc. Roberts is merely putting in his two cents, and then the official that makes it happen in games.
