With seemingly every pitcher throwing harder these days and bullpens stacked with big arms who throw high 90's, the Angels opted to fill their pen with a bunch of slow pitch junkballers in Claudio/Cishek/Watson. It was....certainly a strategy

Thank you Perry

bro, relievers aren’t consistent enough to spend on.  You sign like 100 and invite to ST a few will stand out.  That’s what Brad Pitt said in that movie.

Still waiting for them to stand out after several years of no dice

The reasoning behind the "strategy" of the bullpen construction was that they had a bunch of guys who threw at different speeds, with different motions, release points, etc., and they had both lefties and righties.  Clearly, it didn't work--but that was the spin they put on it earlier this year.

Yeah Dodgers are super-happy they blew all that cash on Bauer.

Yep, stupid idea since no one else does it anymore

Here is the absolute bullshit of Steve Ciskeck as a reliever. He allows 50% of inherited runners to score and still sports a 2.83 ERA. Since Maddon wants to live in 1985, that ERA looks like he's the best pitcher in the bullpen when in fact he is a dumpster fire. His 3 runs he gave up will probably run his ERA over 3 but who gives a crap, this guy is a disastrously bad choice every outing.

What's funny is I think Dipoto or Eppler tried selling us on this same bullshit years ago and the results were the same.

He can’t throw strikes.
Perry brought in too many relievers who can’t throw strikes.

He better do a heck of a lot better this off-season, or he will be on thin ice by November 2022.

I wonder if they're showcasing Marsh for a potential trade at the deadline.

Would be a mistake. Marsh should be their everyday CFer moving forward. He's got the defensive ability to be a good one there and most importantly he allows the team to move Trout to a corner OF spot in the hopes of keeping him healthier moving forward.
