You can't blame this on Bundy, or through 9, on the bullpen. What happened to the the batters after Ohtani tied the game? They seemed to disappear. Oh well. Bring on the Giants for a pair. They are much better than Detroit, by the way.

When your starter can only give you four innings, I think he deserves at least part of the blame, but yes, the offense was the main culprit today.

I stopped blaming the starters for how many innings they can give us.  It is an organizational philosophy to pull the starter early.

A frustrating one too, because they are en route to burning out the pen before September.

I listened to the back-and-forth between Daron and Gubi as that inning developed. Rodriguez had already warmed up once and had started again. Maddon was committed to the change at that point. Maybe Bundy could have survived the fifth, but the die was already cast.

Upon further look, the five Tigers pitchers used yesterday (including the starter Mize) have a 3.40 ERA across 201.1 innings so far in 2021.

They basically threw their best pitchers yesterday.

Those four relievers definite trump what the Halos Arson Squad has done so far in 2021.
