Do you think Trout will break Mr. October's career strikeout record of 2,597? Or will another player?

Right now, Trout is at 1,196 career strikeouts, which is 1,401 fewer than Reggie's career strikeout record. Trout might have ta least 10 more seasons left in him, so it's possible that he breaks the career strikeout record for hitters one day. It'll be like a longevity thing, just like Reggie. Neither guy have close to the highest career strikeout rate for hitters. Another candidate to do it is Stanton, who has over 1,400 career strikeouts. The only thing in Stanton's way is health. He's been injury prone. A darkhorse candidate to do it is Upton, who  has 1,866 strikeouts. But I don't know if Upton will play after next season in the Major Leagues. I could see him sticking around for about another season or two, depending on how he ages.

Let me put it this way: if he does, it is a very good sign because it means he stayed healthy and productive for the next decade.

Over the course of his career thus far, Trout has struck out a bit less than once per game. That's a bit inflated by 2014 in which he struck out 184 times, which was an outlier. But for him to strike out 1402 more times, he'll need to play another 1500 games or so. Even if his rate goes up as he ages, he'll need at least something like 1300 games. If he gets that over the next decade, I'll be very happy - regardless of how many times he Ks.

If Trout does indeed set the all-time record for career strikeouts (for hitters), it is what it is. That just would mean that he was playing at the Major League level for a long time. Ruth once had the most strikeouts in MLB history for hitters after he retired. Same with Mantle. Now Reggie. All three of them were playing for a long time. I would rather have Trout break the all-time strikeout record and average like 152 strikeout per-162 games rather than him falling short of 2,597 career strikeouts and averaging like 190 strikeouts per-162 games, At least in the first scenario, he put the ball in play more and gave himself a shot at getting on base.
