I know you've said the payroll will not be going down... I think everyone is happy to hear that.

I know all of MLB is worried about covid keeping fans away again, and that's valid.  We miss going to games as much as you guys miss the revenue.

Things is, we know every team in MLB will see a key revenue stream increase by at least 40% in 2022 when the new Fox and Turner national TV deals kick in.  Fox money went up by 40%, the Turner deal ended up going up 63% and the ESPN deal is up for renewal...  Last time it more than doubled, its unlikely it won't also result in MLB seeing more revenue there too  Yes, cable is struggling, but streaming is not..  ESPN/Disney/Hulu are competing with other streaming services, MLB is a huge asset in their streaming portfolio.

There are a lot of genuinely cheap owners out there....  Please take advantage of their unwillingness to spend.... if a depressed market happens... Go big...  Playoff revenue, TV revenue...  It's there man...

Indeed and using their logic, the Angels have lost millions every year they failed to make the playoffs.

Reference the cable vs streaming rhing. Are we sure the networks arent losing money with that? (I have no idea)

But seeing that the nba ans mlb saw record lows this year in viewership.... i seriously wonder if that's a bad sign moving forward on that front. I wonder how much covid and all the other problems of 2020 effected sports, and more directly, sports viewership going forward.

The networks might, but MLB isn't losing any.  Both those deals happened in the last year or so.

Gotcha. Yeah im just wondering if this is just a blip, or if there may end up being long term ripple effects from all this. Like if next year is more of the same (no fans allowed in, short season, etc) if more and more people will lose interest.

Curious to watch this all going forward.
