New Mexico has named former Lobos player and assistant coach Danny Gonzales as head football coach.

UNM athletic director Eddie Nunez made the announcement Tuesday night. Contract terms weren't immediately released.

Gonzales will be formally introduced as the Lobos' 32nd football coach at a news conference Wednesday.

The 43-year-old Gonzales has been Herm Edwards' defensive coordinator for the past two seasons at Arizona State. He was promoted to assistant head coach before this season began.

Fresno State announced former Indiana offensive coordinator Kalen DeBoer as its new head coach Tuesday.

The job became available after Jeff Tedford stepped down due to health-related reasons.

DeBoer previously coached the University of Sioux Falls, an NAIA school in South Dakota, from 2005-09. He was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Fresno State for two seasons (2017-18) before accepting a new job in Indiana in 2019.

Under DeBoer, the Hoosiers scored more than 32 points per game and gained 308.7 passing yards per tilt, which ranked 13th overall in college football.

Following two 10-plus win seasons, Fresno State finished this year 4-8, its worst record since 2016

i haven't even looked at the games. not sure if I'd bet either game.  I would normally take LSU, but have no idea about Edward-Helaire's status.

Miami closed out the season losing to Florida International and Duke, then getting shut out by Louisiana Tech in their bowl game. Their offensive coordinator was a casualty.
