Ok so I wasn't the only one that got that out of the article.

And the fact the High Desert Mavericks are gone.  I didn't realize that.  It was a cool park to watch a baseball game.

Adelento was a dump. Let me rephrase that. The Adelento stadium was a dump. A sunburnt dust collector in the middle of nothing and nowhere. Adelento, the city itself, is three steps below that.

It's a fair point because it's not a perfect analogy, but the Angels have just as much right to anywhere in their territory as the Dodgers do.

Actually that's not true. If the Angels want to put a minor league team in the territory, the Dodgers have to sign off on it.

Would you sign off if no location was specified?

I looked it up.  I was thinking of the Lancaster team.

I just did a google picture search of the stadium.  Yowsa.

I stopped in Phelan last year, on the way to Vegas (there were traffic issues on the 15).  Community members didn't even look like they were from this planet, let alone Southern California.

It is true. If the Dodgers want to put a minor league in the territory, the Angels have to sign off on it; hence "as much right as the Dodgers." Neither has an absolute right to move their minor league affiliate to the territory without the other's permission.

If I were the Dodgers I wouldn't care. Maybe I'd say, you can't put it within 10 miles of the minor league park we're going to build. But where in the territory would a minor league team have any impact on the Dodgers? If the Angels want to build in the Great Park in Irvine why would the Dodgers care? If they want to build in Tustin then why would they care? If they build in Long Beach why would they care? They could probably build a minor league stadium in Dodger Stadium parking lot and it won't affect the Dodger's attendance or revenue.

I think it's more like the Angels saying "Ok, but you have to let us put a personal pool anywhere we want in the neighborhood."

But the Angels would have to buy a house in the neighborhood first, in which case there would be nothing wrong with it.

That's hilarious. The stadium looks like something you'd see in a gritty 80's movie about a 35 year old rookie from Iowa.

Or a low budget Breaking Bad knockoff.

And something happened to that green grass down the rightfield line, in foul territory.  In the pics I saw, it was as dry and brown as the rest of Adelanto.

It's stupid either way. This only benefits the area for both sides. CA is such a financial clusterfuck as is why not do something good for the area and pump some revenue into it along with bringing a mall back to life? Angels fans in Ventura County/LA County can easily access the 66ers for away games in this case as well. Who wants to go to the IE? Especially with Lou there ;)

I agree

I love it how everything is always a fight with the Dodgers on this board.  It can never be a business proposition that wasn't agreed to.

It was "F-Off, Dodgers", or vowing revenge for the ghost of Gene Autry, or something else dramatic.

Yeah, Angels fans never miss an opportunity to show their butthurt.

Besides, didn't this whole story take place like 5 years ago? Weird.

We always used to stop in Adelanto on the way to Mammoth.

They have a Starbucks and a Del Taco which is nice.
