He wasn't cutting it at C. That would screw him up, I think.

I think defensively he was fine, but they thought that having him focus on hitting more than the pitcher/catcher relationship and in-game work would help him at the plate. It did, but maybe whatever adjustment he did last year at the plate (because I did read that he did make adjustments there), he can be a part time catcher in AAA and part time 3B.

If we get Moose then it'll be for a 1 year deal. Not only because Eppler loves 1 year deals this winter, but for other reasons.

1: he's a movable piece come deadline

2: Ward will battle with Thaiss for 1B come 2020 I think. Angels will either resign Moose or look elsewhere (Rendon or trade). 

I'm still scratching my head why we'd even want him. Infield seems pretty packed as it is....

Yeah, it would be a one year deal for Moose, with all the control we have over Fletch, Ward, Rengifo, Jones plus two more years of Cozart.

But he could be worth it right now. He will likely have a higher OPS+ than any of the others this year. And he could probably play some 1b.

If it's a one year deal, I don't see how it squeezes anybody too much....Cozart is a ? mark with his shoulder, Moose might be an option at 1b....lots of possibilities...

BTW, what is the "LA Valley", Jon Heyman. Is that the SF Valley, the SG Valley, the Simi Valley? I guess he means the SF Valley, since he went to Chatsworth High.

Not sure how much incentive that is for signing with the Angels. If he still has a place out there or his parents still live out there, can you imagine having to drive to and from Chatsworth to Anaheim for night games? Ugh!

I predicted Moustakas earlier this week as being on our 25 man roster.  I know last year he wanted to be here.  I still have my doubts on whether his skill set really helps, but on a 1-2 year deal I would understand it.  Plus another lefty in the line up wouldn’t hurt.

His skill sets pushes Pujols further down in the lineup ... and his experience at 3B.

I have thought Moustakas might happen, depending on the market....Not to push the panic button but with Harvey and Tropeano already out, if Eppler was monitoring Keuchel's market and it remains flat, I could see a 2 or maybe 3 year deal there....not likely but possible...

No...he was traded mid-season....and re-signing with the Royals last year means he doesn't have a FA comp pick this year....at least I think those are the rules....

No that’s not his skill set

I feel like the lineup is a bit longer with Moustakas in it. If it's a 1-year deal, why not?

It is for sure deeper with Moustakas.  Id be fine giving him even like 2 years 14 million.
