Great profile on Eric Chavez (not a write-up)

I know the writing is on the walls but I really want Chavez to get the managerial job. He seems to really connect with the players and after reading that article I get the impression he’s really good with young players. With Adell, Rengifo, Ward, Thaiss, etc on the way we need a manager that will mold these guys into stars.

Never use the term “write-up.” :)

Seriously, I’d be ok with Chavez. I covered his whole career in Oakland.

No Manager lasts forever and 19 years is long time with one organization.

We knew Mike would eventually move on but we obviously a little concerned about who would replace him.

If Chavez matches up with what you'd consider to be a solid option, that's something at least.

To put that one into perspective, only FOUR MLB managers ALL TIME will have more games managed with one team and more games won with one team than Scioscia.

Mack, McGraw, Cox, and Alston

Former Dogs manager Lasorda, iirc, is #6 in both.   He and the aforementioned four are all in the HOF.

Salute Scioscia for his accomplishments here, but it is time to bring in someone fresh to work with the many solid young players either here now or joining the MLB team down the road.   Time for Billy to fill in the last piece of his rebuilding puzzle.

Did you used to cover Oakland?

Based on some of the gripes you read on here, would you say both teams (and all in general) more or less operate the same, or do you see them as distinctly different?

I think that Chavez is the right choice,he checks all the boxes, young, not a retread and so on.I'm not a big fan of Josh Paul, two first names and all. That would be too much like Boston and New York with Alex Cora and Aaron Boone, a bit of a stretch but still works.I think that is why they sent him to AAA, to get his feet wet a little. His association with Epplar for years is a big plus.
