And in Fast Food News Part 2

My wife is vegetarian, and she enjoys the Impossible Burger and Beyond Burger (plus the Beyond Burritos from Del Taco). My vegan sister who roped us into watching Dominion also likes the plant-based burgers. But they don't eat them all the time, just every now and then.

Yeah, I think the plant-based burgers being marketed as healthy is kind of a joke. It's really just a comfort item for vegetarians who miss the taste of beef. Anything that Burger King or Carl's Jr. can churn out for $5 probably isn't made out of fresh and nutritious ingredients.

Ironically, and it was mentioned, in a read or podcast I was into did mention that they aren't marketed as healthy and now that I think about it I haven't seen a mention of them being healthy, just an alternative. These are new and the science is now catching up. Kind of bums me out because plant based in theory can be good for humans.

Way back when... there was actually a White Castle that opened up Ximino and PCH in Long Beach.  It didn't last long for whatever reason. I tried it once or twice and I wasn't impressed... but that was a really long time ago.

I managed the INO that is on Ximino from 98-01, it was my first store as a manager.

McDonald's to pay $26 million to settle CA wage lawsuit

The preliminary settlement resolves claims that the company used a timekeeping system that cheated workers out of overtime, barred workers from taking rest breaks during their shifts, and forced workers to clean and iron their uniforms out of pocket.

What was that ad campaign? "You deserve a break today..."

I knew that Ronald McDonald was a clown.

There is an old saying that goes something like, you have no idea how inaccurate the news is until there is a story about you.  Well this story isn’t about me, but FoxLA had a story over the weekend about INO causing a fire in rural Arroyo Grande and that they were being sued by Cal Fire.  I read the story through FB and I kept scrolling down because I assumed the story wasn’t over when they left out some pretty important details.  One of the details they left out was the fire was on company owned property.  I was actually there the day of the fire and the following 3 days.  We brought in supplies to cook burgers and fries (fuck off Lou)  for the fire men.  They also happened to neglect to mention that the situation is settled as this is the first time INO has ever used property insurance.  Basically a non story that became a story because someone decided to write something that left out details of what was actually happening.

That's what you get for watching the White Castle of news.
