Last night's double was his first extra base hit since the first game of the season, so he had not had an extra base hit in like 40 games. Just amazing to realize that.

I'm sure he's thinking too much at the plate. The talent is still there.

He needs to use the whole field and stop trying to hit home runs every single times up. He did that well in 2016, got on base at a good clip, and it resulted in his best season.  He's not a home run hitter.

Maybe you can email him your advice, or something. Pass on this knowledge that has obviously eluded him.

He is better than he has been, noone dives that far that fast without injury or something odd, vision or some other health factor.  
Its a brutal slump. one of the worst i remember ever seeing, but this cant be who he is.

Agreed.  On a more positive vein it is amazing he has played defense this well through this offensive slump.  In fact I would say this has been his finest year playing defense so far.  Also, he and Trout communicate really well on balls hit in the RF gap, and are excellent at backing each other up.

Yes, that play yesterday had disaster written all over it and not only did they miss each other but Trout caught the ball.
