He only imploded for the 2 weeks from July 25-August 10 (4 bad outings covering just 1.2 innings).    Take that away, and his ERA was just under 2.00 the rest of the season over 60 innings.

This is a dude who has a lifetime 4.46 ERA and, breaking down the stats, it doesn't really matter if he was a starter or a reliever, that is who he is...

He will implode again and someone from Cardinalswin.com will rationalize it with "...if you take away those three times he gave up game-crippling HRs he was pretty solid..."

I get that, but Norris' blowups were pretty much limited to July 25 - August 10.    Relievers can have small slumps too, although they are more high profile due to the nature of relieving late in games.

Remember when Bud Norris was close to all-star level...and then out of nowhere in a two week stretch pretty much kicked the Angels in the balls and lost his job? Oh, and even better... people wrote sob stories about he wasn't going to get his bonus because he sucked ass and the Angels stopped using him in a way that was fucking them over?

July 25 - August 10 is when the curtain came up and he was revealed to be what he usually is...average to mediocre.  On August 10th, his ERA was 4.60 and 12 appearances later it was 4.21.  He is what he is...an average pitcher capable of good stretches with a penchant for going south quick.  He's had a good run to start 2018 but there is nothing in his history to say he will not be sitting over 4.00 ERA at the end of the season and we already have a roster full of those guys.

You have to give it some time at the very least. He started off well with the Angels last season and then was horrible once the Trading Deadline rolled around, which messed up his trade value, if the Angels were wanting to give him up.
