Lowering the BAC to .05 only makes it harder for law abiding citizens to pass DUI checkpoints.

If they really wanted to do something about this, they would require all new cars to be equipped with a breathalyzer.  This will prevent nothing.  Much like new gun laws will prevent nothing.

Those breathalyzer's aren't cheap and adding that cost to a new car isn't something consumers or manufacturers would be in favor of.

That's true, and it's why texting should be illegal while driving. That doesn't mean you'd be a world class driver blowing a .1, though.
