Trout Returns Friday!

The Angels play 70 games in the second half. If Trout plays every single one (which is possible, but probably not likely), he finishes with 117 games played. George Brett won the AL MVP in 1980 playing 117 games. Of course Brett hit .390 that year and the Royals won the AL West, but just saying.

Aside from Trout's performance, Aaron Judge would need to completely flop and the Angels would need to take the second wildcard. Jose Altuve and George Springer are also serious candidates, but might lose votes to each other.

Anyhow, let's say Trout plays 67ish of those games, and finishes with 114 played. . He finishes with about 500 PA. Let's say he's a bit rusty for a couple weeks, but comes back eventually and hits about .300/.420/.500 for the rest of the year. He probably finishes around .315/.440/.620, with 30+ HR, and 90+ RBI and Runs. Not sure he'll steal many more bases this year. He'll probably finish with 7-8 fWAR, and a wRC+ of 180ish.

In other words, even a moderate return by Trout and playing only 115ish games, he's still the most valuable player in the league except for Judge. But aside from injury and a complete collapse, Judge will probably finishing something like .310/.430/.650, with 45-50 HR, 120+ runs and 110+ RBI, plus 8-9 WAR. He'll win the MVP.

That's nice, dude. Judge couldn't even carry Trout's jockstrap. He is a great talent but he needs to have a lot of great years to deserve to be mention on Trout's level.

He didn't say anything about Judge being on the same level. He just said he'll win the MVP with those numbers, which is true.

Calm your tits.

Judge has a .422 BABIP and a K% of almost 30. I know he hits in a little league park but there's no way he doesn't see a significant crash.

he's been in the league for almost a year and still has the upper hand on most everyone. it'll be interesting to see how teams adjust to him, and he adjusts to the adjustments.

Are you saying that the MVP award is exclusively just for Mike Trout? Aaron Judge will start in the All Star Game and has a good shot at winning the Home Run Derby. He could win a triple crown, silver slugger, ROY and the MVP award. Oh and he might be playing in the post season. Like Trout he seems to be a nice kid and it would be amazing to see him accomplish all that in his first year. It's good for baseball.

Glad he's coming back!  Bummed his rehab was cut short one day as I had front row tix for tonight's 66ers game for me and my boys.  We went anyway because we've never been and had a blast.

Boys got tons of autographs including Thaiss who got a couple hits, and Ward who had an RBI triple. Survance made a sweet catch against the wall early the game the CF, and Yacinich had a couple clutch hits at SS.  RF and LF were dicey defensively.  Several bobbles and an error.  Also saw our starter, Greyfer Eregua, leave the game with pain in his elbow, that didn't look good.

Otherwise a ton of action and a sweet come from behind win. Had a 4 run 8th to beat the Baby Doyers 7-6.  I'll definitely be going back there again, fun stadium and baseball experience for my kids.
