I don't get why he isn't hitting higher in the lineup. This actually wouldn't look like a bad lineup Trout injury considered:

1. EY CF

2. Yunel 3b

3. Calhoun RF

4. Pujols DH

5. Simmons SS

6. Cron 1b

7. Maldonado C

8. Black hole 2b

9. Revere LF

Puts a lot of speed back to back with Revere and EY, which would hopefully limit the DPs of Yunel. Also would be way more balanced than what we've been putting out there

Given EY's story (see article linked above) - playing baseball is easier for him.  His focus is different.  He has perspective.  Mentally, he's in a different place. Just my thoughts...

EY Jr. is slashing .318/.412/.523 with 2 HR and 4 SB's. Playing a really good outfield defensively too.

Revere is definitely a goner once Trout comes back. Young has raked dating back to ST and really looks to have turned a corner.

Given what he's been through, it's great to see him flourishing.   The Angels needed a feel-good story this season and EY has more than given them that.

The last player to really make the most of his chance after being called up from SL was Trout. I know EY Jr. is no Trout or a young rookie but he has been on fire since getting his chance with the Angels.

Awhile ago I noticed he was tearing up AAA, and I mentioned it to my son. He said yeah but he's old and a lot of people hit in AAA and can't in the Bigs. I'm glad he was wrong.

If this guy can play a decent second base, the decision is easy who should go once Trout is healthy. I know Young has averaged a .250 average during his career, but I like his spark.

You never know.... if Espinosa continues to hit under .200 and strikeout at the clip he's at, prior to Trout's arrival EY may get some reps in at 2B in practice in an effort to keep him in the lineup. 

He did play there for the majority of his minor league career.

At this point, you have to keep EY and Maybin in the line-up when Trout gets back IMO.  How you do it will be tough, but I'd say you have nothing to lose having EY play a game at 2B and see what happens.

EYJr. has a nice compact swing.   That plus the SBs = cannot remove from the starting lineup even when Trout returns.    Problem is, can he adjust to 2B again quickly enough, since he won't supplant Trout, Calhoun, or Maybin in the lineup?

Can't DH him, because that means playing Pujols at 1B regularly.   That is something I would be very leery of.

I really hate to say it, and we all knew this day would come eventually... no one could imagine so soon, but... Pujols should probably be the odd man out of the lineup right now - contractual obligations aside.

That's not going to happen. You can wish and hope all you want, but it's not going to happen. You can take that to the bank, count on it.

EY is turning some heads ... let's hope he continues to help the team. There's at least a month before Trout returns to figure things out position wise. 

Espinoza's defense is the only thing keeping him in the lineup imo. I think he'll be around until Trout's return.
