Game 7 brought out the best and worst in the Cubs and Indians and everyone whose emotional attachment to the organizations coursed through Progressive Field, where 38,104 people packed themselves, including Epstein, his wife, Marie, and their son, Jack. They sat in the stands, ready to witness the Cubs claw back from a three-games-to-one deficit. Passions ran deep for the Indians, too, with their 68-year championship famine and the prospect of blowing what felt like an insurmountable advantage after Game 4 palpable. Early in the game, two fans sitting near Epstein were harassing him and his family. He asked them to stop. They refused. He summoned security. Before being escorted out, a woman doused Epstein and his son with a cup of beer.

Who pours beer on someone?  I don't get how you jeopardize your game 7 experience for something like that and to poor beer on a kid.  With those ticket prices too ooof.  Marlins Man was afraid to go to Indians games during the playoffs.  They heckle him hard for '97 still.

This is what happens when you win.  It brings out the ugly.  It's just a comment on society, who rewards louder and more aggressive and showmanship.  Look at almost all athletes.  Harper gets more press than Trout because....Look at TV.  Look at politics.  Acting like an Asshole is standard behaviour now.

Actually, Indians fan is known for being pretty cool towards other fans.   Not as cool as Cubs fan, but that example is not of a true Indians fan.

i understand the sentiment, but i've never believed in it.

i've been trashed many times in my life, as everyone else has, bar fights and the whole nine, but i've never assaulted a kid. and you know that theo wasn't complicit in the whole exchange as can happen in stadium exchanges.

Magnifying the ignorance and the sheer juvenility of harassing people and pouring beer on them is the probable cost of seats that close to the field for Game 7. According to the broadcast last night, the top seats went for nearly $24,000 each on the resale market.
