They could try to get a couple innings each from Merritt and Salazar and hope Lackey shits the bed. That gives them the other 3 starters on normal rest for the remainder of the series. It can't be any more of a gamble than putting Santana in LF.

it wasn't stupid baserunning though. the runner thought the throw was going home, which was a reasonable assumption. the outfielder conceeded the run and took the out at 3rd. it was a good play on both ends.

why not? if they take a 3-1 series lead with two to play at cleveland, then the cubs are in deep.
