This season has already got me thinking more than ever about the possibility of the use of an automated strike zone.  I know many would be against this - taking away the human element - but is there anything more annoying than when the human element potentially costs your team a game?  Today (of course there are multiple instances in every game) I'm referring to Shoemaker's strike 3 pitch to Aoki that was called ball 4.  Of course, the M's might still have had a big inning (it is Shoemaker on the mound), but you know what, a leadoff strikeout and a leadoff walk set very different tones.  Thoughts?

That would actually be awesome! :)  But back to reality, they did try it out in an independent league, and still had home plate umpires who apparently remained plenty busy and were pleased with the results (read some article on it the other day).
