I am not sure any celebrity death has every bothered me - except Adenhart's. Maybe because I was a new father and imagined what Adenhart's father must have been dealing with, it maybe it was the fan in me feeling cheated.

I clearly recall waking up that morning and coming to this board to check the news. The thread about the accident had been started, but it appeared to be rumor at that point. Then Chuck confirmed it, and it felt like getting kicked in the stomach.

Doesn't seem like it was 7 years ago but thinking back I was discussing it at work with a fellow Angels fan and some co-workers who all left 5+ years ago.  I remember when the news first broke someone had called into one of the sports radio stations saying they worked at the hospital he was taken to and most thought or hoped it was BS.  Weird to think he'd only be 30 now and still playing.

I was at that game and just remember getting the call the next morning from my roommate who was also with me at the game....will never forget how I felt.

Also, do the Angels ever acknowledge this? I don't see any posts/tweets about it. Other than Weaver putting his initials in the dirt and the "calling all angels" intro video, I'm not sure I've seen much mention of him.

The anniversary of his death is tomorrow, my post was about seven years since his last game. You'd like to think there will be a mention of it tomorrow.

Rip Nick. I was never much of a drinker but haven't had so much as a sip since this happened. No stomach for it. Three lives stolen so some dumb animal can escape his pathetic life for a few hours. Enjoy your time asshole.

My gym is across the street from the accident scene.  When I left around dinnertime, I saw some people mulling around near the traffic light and wasn't sure why. 

 

Now I know why.  Can't believe it's been 7 years.

glad you mentioned all of them. I always thought it was kind of sad how the other 2 kids kind of went under the radar. The 4th is doing well now, thankfully.

Jon Wilhite is an inspiration. To think that he suffered internal decapitation, and yet was able to endlessly rehabilitate after beyond extensive surgery to be who he is today, that points to his character.

The less said about the two scumbags in the other car, the better.

The devistating loss of Adenhart, and the team's ability to overcome that and so many injuries and win 97 games, was the Angels finest season. I still don't know how they did it. If they had won the World Series, we might be talking about the greatest season by a baseball team.
